In 2019, Farm to Keiki surveyed 127 early childhood education programs in Hawai'i to create a baseline for Farm to ECE in Hawai'i. Below is a snapshot of what we found!
It is so inspiring to see the number of early care centers who are interested in Farm to ECE! We loved that 75% of the respondents are teaching their keiki about local food! We didn't love how many of our ECE programs are unsatisfied with the nutritional content of the foods being served. But that is ok, because 73% of them wanted to see more locally grown foods in schools! The results are fascinating, uplifting and frustrating! A big mahalo to the Hawai'i Department of Health and the USDA SNAP program for funding this report! And more big mahalo's to the Hawai'i Farm to School Hui, the Bennet Foundation and Kokua Hawai'i Foundation for helping with this survey!
And a huge mahalo nui loa to Jessamyn Wead - our survey queen who worked with me to develop the survey, crunched all the data, wrote the report and made this beautiful infographic!
She has the most beautiful smile... right?
