Science

Compare the taste of a cucumber and a pickle. How can the same whole ingredient taste so differently? Study the process of fermentation or pickling by making pickles! Learn about those healthy microbes that make up and heal our gut!

LITERATURE

Read the book From the Garden by Michael Dahl. It is a beautiful book and highlights cucumbers among many other veggies. It’s great for learning how to count too! You can get it at the library, your local bookstore or order online.

Health

Time for some self care! Cucumbers are cooling to the body inside and out. Cool a cucumber in the refrigerator or on ice. Slice into rounds and put them on your eyelids and relax! Who doesn’t love a spa day? It’s also great for itchy or puffy eyes from allergies, a scratch or too much crying.
